The Rattlers’ Bio
Born as an idea in the mind of founder/songwriter Brad Fenton in th 1990’s, the Rippin’ Rattlers have gone on to become one of British Columbia and Western Canada’s favorite club bands. They can always be relied on for set after set of crowd pleasing standards, mixed with some of the finest original songs to come out of B.C.’s burgeoning music scene. The band’s debut album for Phonic Records, One Hot Minute, explores the vast landscapes of Fenton’s mind, while carousing through a range of musical styles that delight and surprise the listener. At any moment, one might be listening to a British Invasion group, a Rockabilly band, or The Grateful Dead. In every case, the quality of Fenton’s songwriting, as well as the band’s performances, are impeccable. The current Rattlers lineup includes ace lead guitarist Mike Bennett, who has shared stages with the likes of Jeff Healy, Spirit of the West, and Downchild Blues Band. Rob Funk brings sly and steady percussion to the Rattlers’ live shows, as well as keyboard finesse and production skills for the band’s recording projects. Funk is no slouch in the credits department, having opened for such luminaries as Toots and the Maytals and Spearhead. The group is rounded out by veteran Okanagan bassist Perry Hooper, whose own stage credits include working with Sonny Rhodes and David Gogo.
